The Centre of Methods in Genetic Epidemiology in Göttingen (GEM)

Department of Genetic Epidemiology

GEM Göttingen has been established as a centre for methods in genetic epidemiology in Germany since 2001. The aims and tasks of the GEMs can be defined within the framework of collaborative research and individual projects as:

  • Development of new biometric methods in genetic epidemiology and their implementation in software;
  • Elaboration of SOPs, standard operating procedures, for genetic studies of complex diseases;
  • Establishment of quality management procedures and coordination of study flow;
  • Creation and use of a common database.

The development of new biometric methods is our focus and thus integrated into our other research priorities.
